WebMCP tools
-
fill_email_removal Report that an email address is not a ${defaultConstants.appName} customer's and have it permanently removed, using the form on this page. This cannot be undone, so use it only when the person asks and confirms they understand; confirmPermanent must be true. ${CAPTCHA_NOTE}
-
fill_survey Answer the "${e}" feedback survey on this page with the person's own answers, and send it. Every multiple-choice question needs an answer from its list; the written question is optional. Use it only when the person wants to give ${defaultConstants.appName} feedback. ${CAPTCHA_NOTE}
-
fill_privacy_choices Set the person's choice about ${defaultConstants.appName} sharing their personal information for targeted advertising, using the choice on this page: opt_out stops the sharing, opt_in allows it. The choice is saved in this browser right away. Use it only with the choice the person made.
-
start_return Open ${defaultConstants.appName}'s sign-in site to start a tax return, in this tab. product picks the starting point: a new ${defaultConstants.appYear} return, one with Deluxe, Pro Support or Audit Defense added, an extension, an amended return, a prior-year return, or a paid-preparer return. The person signs in or creates an account there themselves.
-
sign_in Open ${defaultConstants.appName}'s sign-in site in this tab so the person can sign in and continue a ${defaultConstants.appYear} return they already started. The password and any verification code go into that page directly, from the person, a password manager or a passkey, never through this conversation.
-
recover_account Open ${defaultConstants.appName}'s account recovery page in this tab, for a person who forgot their username or password or can't sign in. The person answers the recovery questions there; recovery codes and the new password go into that page directly, never through this conversation.
-
open_account_page Open a page inside the person's ${defaultConstants.appName} account, in this tab, after they sign in: check their e-file status, contact customer support, or print or download a return they filed. The browser goes to the sign-in site first; the person signs in themselves.
-
get_current_page Describe the ${defaultConstants.appName} page the person is on: its title, link and canonical link, its main heading and section headings, the help articles it shows and, on an article page, that article's id (ids to read in full), the sign-in and start-return buttons on it, and the tools available right now. Call it after arriving on a page or after open_page.
-
find_page Search ${defaultConstants.appName}'s own pages by topic, for example "1099-NEC", "Oregon", "extension" or "military", and return up to ${MAX_PAGE_RESULTS} matching pages with their titles, descriptions, paths and links. Open one in this tab with open_page. Help articles are searched separately, with the help search tool.
-
open_page Open another ${defaultConstants.appName} page in this tab by its path, for example "/pricing" or "/states/oregon", and return a description of the new page, as get_current_page does. Use a path from find_page or from a link on this page. Only pages on this site open; sign-in and start-return buttons have their own tools.
-
get_pricing Current ${defaultConstants.appName} prices for the ${defaultConstants.appYear} tax year, in US dollars, as the pricing page shows them. Federal returns are $0. The state return, Deluxe, Pro Support, Audit Defense, amended, printed, bound and prior-year prices are listed separately, plus the fee for paying out of a federal refund.
-
get_key_dates The IRS dates on ${defaultConstants.appName}'s deadline page for the ${defaultConstants.appYear} tax year: when the IRS starts processing returns, the April filing deadline, and the extension deadline, plus today's date and whether each deadline has passed. irsStartsProcessing is null until the IRS announces it. Dates are US local dates in YYYY-MM-DD form.
-
search_faqs Search ${defaultConstants.appName}'s tax help library and return up to ${MAX_FAQ_RESULTS} matching articles with their ids, titles and links. Use it for questions about tax forms, credits, deductions, filing situations, and how the software handles them. Titles are not answers: read the article with get_faq before giving tax guidance. An empty results list means no article matched.
-
get_faq Read up to ${MAX_FAQ_ARTICLES} articles from ${defaultConstants.appName}'s tax help library in full, by id. Returns each article's title, its text with the formatting removed, and its link. Get ids from search_faqs or from get_current_page. An id that does not exist is left out of the results.
-
get_entry_links Returns links, without opening them: startNewReturn for a new ${defaultConstants.appYear} return, signInToContinue for a return already started, priorYearReturn to start a return for taxYear (default ${defaultConstants.appYear-1}), and accountRecovery for a lost username or password. Each opens the sign-in site, where the person signs in or creates an account themselves.
